WAYNE & PAUL XXX
JUNE-JULY 2008:
Hi everyone well here we go for the June instalment very very busy a blow out month we need a rest seriously hehe........
First up we have had nothing but positive feed back fro the IMS and can't wait till next year for the summit and we still have chill running up our spine with the effect that playing the main room at pacha has on a DJ it the most amazing place to play.
So the visa arrived for Moscow and Shanghai and off we went on another little journey Romans club The Most is so amazing cost was obviously not a factor when building this place. The DJ both moves around it so cool. It was Russian federation day and a holiday quite like our bank holiday Sundays in the UK so everyone was in party spirit and a great night was had and again my Russian hosts looked after us in style a usual so thank you Vika, Arkardy and Andrei. Wayne then headed off to Shanghai to play at the outrageous Attica club hanging 40 stories of the side of a building with the most awesome view of the city district. The terrace was sponsored by Addidas and had screens to show the football and it was the most luxurious marquee I have ever seen. Steve Lawler was headlining the Friday night and SoulAvengerz the Saturday so the club has very good DJ's that play there regularly. I was hosted by the resident DJ Jon White who took good care of me during my stay. The hotel was 5 star and a great base to see Shanghai from WHAT a city that place is crazy. Anyway the night was great and the club has one of the fattest sound systems I have ever heard.
Next weekend we did the opening of the all new RS lounge in Essex a few teething problems they need to sort out but im sure it will be a successful bar venue once all the opening issues are sorted out the place looked great though.
Off Wayne went to Moldova to play at Dance planet in Chisinau did not know what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and set in Moldova and can't wait to go back. The hospitality was second to none and the crowd were really into the house music played. Russia had won the football that evening so a party spirit was evident and this was one of my best gigs all year. I meat some really nice people who have a passion for music which reminded me of how London was 10 years ago. The dancer at this venue were amazing the place only holds 400-500 but it was going off big style again can't wait to get back out there.
Off to Ibiza again this time for the opening of El Divino for Kidology playing along side Hoxton Whores our old friends and what a ball we had. Kevin needs help I think he should go and get some pills from the doctor hehe. I must say our thoughts go out to Kevin (Hoxto Whores) and his family at this difficult time as he lost his Nan that day and like a true pro honoured his booking, turned up and rocked the show well done mate.
46664
We had the great honour of playing VIP backstage at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday party in Hyde park London what a momentous day. Eddie Grant rocked the show with "hope Joanna" and obviously "electric avenue" the place was rocking and has to be my highlight. Amy Winehouse was the low light trying to even mention her Blakey in the same breath as nelson Mandela is a complete insult he's in side for violence and deception a little bit different from Nelsons struggle don't you all think. A complete disgrace, its such a shame, as she is obviously a great talent. Nelson gave a great speech and we were honoured to be part of this calibration.
"Where human beings are being oppressed, there is more work to be done. Our work is for freedom for all," ... "It is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is in your hands now. I thank you" this was Nelson way of passing on his own life’s work to us ALL he is no longer able to fight and needs us all to help keep the vision of his 46664 campaign alive, long into the future. He is so right "IT'S IN OUR HANDS"
MAR-JUNE 2008:
Well! Well! How do we follow a start to the year that we have had, it cant get any better surely??? well read on.....
Firstly on the DJ front we headed of to Yalta in the Ukraine on the crimean coast line the Ibiza of the Ukraine kind of (we named it southendski LOL). We had the pleasure of playing the biggest club in the Ukraine Club MATRIX. We had a ball and the venue was amazing and the crowd were well up for it. They were loving the house music which is very refreshing as we are seeing a very very big house following emerging from Eastern Europe. Sexy venue, sexy sounds and even sexier girlies (boy those Ukrainian girl are tall) can’t wait to go back when summer is in full swing. We then headed of the Zagreb in Croatia and played at Hemmingway in the centre of town. Meet by Paul and his beautiful wife Petra we were taken to the most amazing hotel and then onto a very impressive and sumptuous venue, which is half restaruant and half club. We dinned with the owners and had the most amazing tuna steaks. We were then lead upstairs to a packed club full of up for it croats. This venue is very intimate holding 400-500 people but the atmosphere was great and we thourghly enjoyed ourselves. We got a booking for Split down on the coast of Croatia and were off there very soon. This is fast becoming a very very real alternative to Ibiza for hedonistic clubbers. Daytime parties are not outlawed here and every flat raised surface is commandeered as a dance floor. Think Ibiza 10 years ago and you have SPLIT. We headlined the Louie Vega gig at SW1 for Bobby & Steve packed to the rafters so much we nearly never got in (HEHE). We have just got back from the opening party at PACHA Ibiza and we supplied our legendary 3-hour set 4am till close (7am closing now in Ibiza for ALL clubs boo hoo) this is our favourite club and gig and again PACHA delivered . The crowd was amazing the atmosphere electric, the dance floor jumping. We are in true DJ heaven when we play there. Check out the videos on you tube. We are currently awaiting visa’s as we are off to Russia to Roman obramovich Moscow club "THE MOST" we are then off to Shanghai to play "ATTICA" 30 stories up a sky scrapper in the middle of Shanghai this venue is amazing and we can wait to out there.

IMS 2008:
Wayne comments: Got a call from Danny whittle from PACHA Ibiza and Ben Turner to see if we would like to remix the IMS anthem made by the very very talented Tom Middleton. Although very apprehensive and full of trepidation and some rather brown marks in my pants. I headed off to the summit having accepted to remix live in front off the industries biggest players, shakers & makers. The 3 days content for the summit was spot on everybody’s attention span was captured for a full 10-hour day. Tom made his anthem live, franscour K made a 2 hour speech of his visions of our industry come across like a ten minute chat (how time flys when your having fun, legend) day 2 saw me present the remixed anthem to our piers (Paul was hard at it in the London studio polishing it off for me to present so a bit of cheating but we did only have 2 days to finish it. A big ask but we delivered). Day 3 was full of interesting presentation from beatport and the anthem was sync to film live by bruno (6 feet under) and a very interesting DJ 100 panel discussion. All finished off with the most appropriate party at the legendary PIKES hotel.
If you are in the music business then this is seriously the place to be. Miami may have shot itself in the foot. This will defo be our choice of conference from now on. See you all there next year if your lucky enough to get tickets that is.
FEB-MAR 2008:
WOW! What a start to the year this has been. We have been all over the place DJing and also been in the studio a little bit too. What with the label and collaboration with the one and only Maxi-C. Well where do we start ??? Working with Maxi-C ??? OZ ??? Chamounix ??? Edingbrough ??? Russia ??? Galaxy radio show ??? Lets start in good old Scotland where Paul headed off to play in edingbrough and had a ball @ club Massa. Then jetting off to Chamounix to play at Le Garage where we hold a semi-residency. Paul in his element rocking both these parties and making loads of new friends along the way. Wayne slopped off to Moscow on a very very cold weekend (-10) to play at yagoda where we always have fun. Wayne then went off to sunny old Australia played in Melbourne @ the infamous Q Bar, headed off to Sydney to play at the renowned coogee beach hotel and then onto the highlight of the tour the official closing of Mardis gras at DTPM @ Tank. Wayne comments "this was the 30th birthday of mardis gras and what a party these boys & girls were having it was amazing in the centre of Sydney. Funny how I have not been to the carnival in Notting hill for over ten years because I felt out of place and scared but at this gathering I felt totally at home and did not fear for my safety not once. I did not even see any bitch fighting hehe. It was love in mass and it was hard not to be overwhelmed by the atmosphere. I reached Tank on Monday morning at 12.30am and what a crowd at DTPM and what a club Tank is. These two elements added up to what was one of Wayne's highlights of his career. "It was hot and sweaty and the crowd were going off" Alan Thompson was rocking the show on my arrival and warming the place up to the sweet sound of house music. There was no electro played all night very refreshing to see that Alan has built up a solid house night on a Sunday in the centre of electro madness that is Australia’s commercial electro house scene "Tank has got to be my second favourite club it is so cool and unusual" strolling out of DTPM at 6.30am on Monday morning in the middle of the city district, blazing sunlight and loads of commuters made feel a bit worse for wear but it was all worth it in the end.
We have also been busy in the studio and had the immense pleasure of hooking up with the main man Mr Maxi-C who wrote the vocals for our newest hit "if you want my love" this gonna do some damage and is probably our best work to date. We also have the infamous gramma funk writing lyrics for "Drop the bomb" and this should be ready very soon and we could not be more excited.

On the production side, the duo have seen their remix of the all-time house classic Move Your Body by Marshall Jefferson rock dance floors across the world, with huge support from all the major jocks. Soul Avengerz kicked off their summer at the main room of the spiritual home of house music, Pacha Ibiza
Soul avengerz supplied their infamous 4-hour set (2am-6am) at the opening night of Pacha Ibiza hosted by Dirty on 2nd June. Their funky but driving sound went down a storm with their followers from the UK and the cosmopolitan locals.
Following Pacha Ibiza, they moved on to Pacha London to play their monthly residency for Dirty. They carried on the holiday vibe in true Soul Avengerz style funking up the dancefloor for another 4 hour set
With gigs at Club Glam in Marbella, Escape in the Park - Swansea, Miss Moneypennys in Birmingham and their London residency @ Housonic Club Warehouse, plus an interesting trip to Serbia to play at the Marlborough super bike launch June was a busy and fulfilling month for the DJ duo. July see them in Ibiza for Pukka up/Es Paradise, Dirty @ Pacha London, Brunnell rooms in Swindon, Medicine bar/ Shoreditch and Funky 4 love @ pacha London, De javu @ Welly club/Hull & Housonic tour/Newquay.
Production-wise the boys have recently finished mixes for Art & Craft/Leg Soup-Wonderland (radio plays on Kiss FM), ASBO/Let The Beat Hit ‘Em for Hed Kandi and Tom Novy/Your Body for Data/MOS and are currently a bit nervous but very excited about reworking the all-time house classic Move Your Body by Marshall Jefferson for Simply Vinyl. They
have just finished co-writing and producing a new track with Peyton which is awesome and sure to be a hands in the air feel good anthem.
Their next release on Positiva Dont Let The Morning Come has already been played twice by Pete Tong on his Essential Selection Radio 1 and been confirmed as a live P.A for Tongs essential selection on Friday 11th August live from caf mambos in Ibiza
And not forgetting massive support from Steve Smart on Kiss 100 Saturday night show.
With all these gigs and productions you can see that the last couple of months have been nothing short of manic for the Soul Avengerz.
